Does a hookah master need a theory?
I think everyone has noticed the trend towards self-development and educational projects that has been gaining momentum in the past few months. But at the same time, many hookah masters ask themselves the question ” Why do I need this?? I already know everything, I have experience and practice, let these theories of yours be taught in institutes”.
Let’s find out why we need a theory at all and whether we really need it.
- The market for products is expanding, and time is already running out.
At one time, you smoked all the cups that were then, and experienced how they behave in work. Cool, but new items appear all the time, and try each of them now is as real as counting the stars in the sky. How much do you value your time and are you ready to do it if there is an alternative solution? For example, study materials science and determine how the bowl will smoke at first sight and touch.
- Can you explain the choice of hookah?
You will agree that it is much easier to prove your point to the host or explain something to the guest / Intern when you understand what you are talking about and can prove it.
- Keep it simple.
Knowing the basic laws of physics and chemistry of Smoking, you do not complicate your work with a bunch of unnecessary actions and understand how to simplify your task as much as possible. You also save your time, which is a huge plus.
- Sales? No, additional sales.
Let’s say you sell one hookah and change it to the table a couple of times per shift. Now add to this the knowledge of the synergy of tea and hookah, and a pair of teapots will appear in the receipt for one Smoking session. And by explaining to guests what will happen if they order one hookah for three, we increase the receipt even more, helping guests relax even better than they planned.
- Show, tell.
You can masterfully work and make good cups, but what’s the use if you start teaching and you can’t explain to the person how it works. Because you don’t know yourself, but “got a good hand skill” or “from experience.”” Experience can’t be passed on, but knowledge can.
- Hands will not feed, as well as heads.
The point is that your experience and knowledge can and should be monetized. By knowing and applying the necessary information, you can become interesting not only for institutions, but also for companies. Really good shots are always few, so manufacturers (and not only) highly appreciate such people. Who is easier to find a decent job, a person with a good knowledge base or without it?
This is only a small part of what deep theoretical knowledge can provide in our industry, but whether it is necessary or not is up to everyone.
